HOW IS YOUR CELL UNIQUE?
I think CCMS is unique in that it offers a great way to bond with local middle school kids. As volunteers, we do our best to mentor the kids to not only aspire to achieve academic success, but to also have high aspirations and goals in life. In other words, we serve the kids at CCMS not only as tutors, but as role models for a bright future. I think this is a particularly special and humbling experience for volunteers to go through, and sets CCMS apart.
How has this cell helped shape you?
This cell has helped shaped me in understanding the different backgrounds that people come from. It is so different to actually experience and see what another person’s situation is rather than simply hearing about it. CCMS has made me passionate about educating others and has thoroughly raised my appreciation for teachers.
WHAT ARE SOME SPECIFIC TASKS A VOLUNTEER COULD EXPECT AT THIS CELL?
A volunteer should expect to serve as the right-hand to the teacher they work under. Our job is to assist the teacher in any way they may need. Typically, volunteers will be asked to provide assistance as a tutor to students who have been struggling in class.
